Time to Upgrade
« on: February 21, 2017, 10:21:49 pm »
OK so it has come time to get the upgrade. The F150 with EcoBoost did well, but I want more payload and option to go to a 5ver in the future.
Since this will be my daily driver too, I decided to stick with the gas. So this is what I spec'ed out:

2017 F350 SRW CC SB 4x4 Lariat
6.2L w/ 4.30 axel 6 speed auto
LT275/70R 18E BSW All Terain
11,300 GVWR
Lariat Ultimate Package
5th Wheel Prep
Ultimate trailer tow camera system
extended running boards
spray in bedliner

Hope it won't take longer than 9 weeks to get.

Congrats! For reference I ordered 1/23 and ETA is 3/15. But, so you know, I had to suck up to Nathan a little to speed things up lol!

So if I turn my lease in and have nothing to drive after the 9 weeks I should shout out to Nathan?

Hey now, I'm really only good for harassing Buckeyes. :)

Will they extend your lease until the new truck shows up?

Will know better on saturday when I go to put my order in, but salesman said it can be worked out.
If not, then I take my son's truck and make him walk for awhile...ha ha.

I guess since everyone else is getting their orders approved by D&T, I should too. So here's what I'm planning to order (I'm cheap so I'll get the Lariat rather than the KR):

And no more whining about order times since this will be at least a 6 month wait. ;)

So the debate is whether or not I get the adaptive cruise?

I have never used it but we have it on some of our big trucks at work. The guys who have it can't stand it. It beeps constantly warning you of a situation and if you don't do something about it then eventually it will. Biggest example is the guy who speeds up to pass you, then cuts over too early, then slows down in front of you. Personally I want nothing to do with adaptive cruise, bliss, or lane departure warning systems. I'll drive my own truck thank you very much lol. Speaking of lane departure some of our trucks have that too, I was talking on the phone with a guy and kept hearing the warning going off. I asked him WTH? You falling asleep? He said no I'm in a construction zone and it keeps picking up the barrels. Now we have no control over these systems and cannot turn them off. I don't know about the Ford systems.

I know nothing about the Ford system but we test drove a Chrysler 200 a couple years ago with the lane assist and it was actually the cat's meow. It had an alarm that you could turn off but leave the system active. It actually gently put you back in the lane if you started veering. Nothing that couldn't be overridden by turning the wheel. It almost felt like when you come to a stop at an intersection where the road has "ruts" from heavy trucks stopping. It gently turned the wheel to correct you from leaving the lane. Where it felt a little weird and I could easily get used to it was when taking off and turning left at an intersection on a divided 4 lane highway. As you are crossing the lanes it is trying to decide which lane to correct you in so you feel gently nudging of the wheel back and forth until you pick your lane and get in it. You could turn the whole system off in that car, I just don't know about the Ford system.
