« on: April 26, 2017, 06:46:50 pm »
Now that's a tire. Tire of changing tires on the side of the road. Just installed a set of Sailun 637's and man these things are heavy.

Hope they fix the issues. What's the speed rating?

Also went from 3400# per tire to 4400# per tire capacity.

following...need to replace my china-bombs before we head to Colorado this summer and never thought to get a commercial grade tire on the trailer...not a bad idea...especially given how the Ram 3500 wants to run!!

I'm not one to discriminate where a tire is made. I just go for what works. My 5th wheel came factory with GY Marathons and I had always heard they were not a good tire for something that is always heavily loaded. I knew going in that I would have been replacing them but I didn't figure on two years having so much trouble no more than we travel. We have run Sailuns on our dump trucks and semi with good results so I thought I would look into them. I didn't even know they made a 16" tire until I looked. They only make two sizes (235/80 &235/85R16 in the commercial side. My RV runs heavy on the axles because of the 500lb tongue weight of my boat so it only made sense to find the heaviest tire possible at a reasonable price. The GY commercial tires are stupid expensive @ $300+ per tire. I would have added a third axle before I would have paid that. LOL I put the 235/85R16 on my RV with a 4400# rating and a 75 MPH speed rating. I will feel much better now when the ole Cummins is chugging along @ 85.............

That's a good looking tire. I like the solid shoulders on a HD trailer tire, especially one that gets dragged sideways like on our RVs. Another tire I ran on my last RV is http://www.goodridetire.com/index.php/products/info/stzc/244. These also look like a good 14 ply http://www.goodridetire.com/index.php/products/info/cr960a/446 . I really like the more squared off look of these and the Sailuns.

I would take a look at Bridgestone Duravis R250's.  Massive upgrade and they are NOT ST tires.  They are commercial LT's with a speed rating of 99mph IIRC.  Discount Tire guy here said many full timers who come in either go for these if they need an E-rated tire or the Goodyear G614 if they need something more.  Google the R250 and see what you come up with - even the people on RV.net say nice things about them.   :o :o :o

That tire don't have the capacity I need. The 235/85r16 on good for a little over 3000#. The Goodyears are too pricey and still don't have much more capacity that the 10 ply tire that I had.

Those Sailun's are pretty beast.  4k LCC per tire.  I am going to try the new endurance - don't need anything that massive.

I wish I could Tranz - 15" wheels for the moment is all I got.  Might go to 16's in the future!  Happy trails :)
