Headed to Lincoln National Forest - planning to be there 7 glorious days!  We will be at Apache Campground and plan to visit the Dunn Solar Observatory (very cool, check it out online), White Sands and White Sands Missile Range.  Going to also do some hiking and fishing.  9,000ft up in the forest sure will feel good.  Can't wait!

Enjoy your trip. I spent a couple weeks out there camping and loved it. Cant wait to get back out there.

We were further west, almost in Arizona.

Zuni Pueblo
Gallup
Anasazi Ruins- The White House and Pueblo Bonito
Chaco Canyon
Canyon de Chelly

Great trip. If you make it west, I would highly suggest stopping into the Zuni Pueblo and seeing if you can get into the old Mission church. Alex and Ken are local artists and have been working to restore the paintings on the wall for years. Its not a huge tourist space, but many celebrities have found it over the years and its kinda hidden away. Awesome times for sure!

Trip didn't go as planned.  Lincoln National Forest was on Stage II Fire Restrictions so we looked elsewhere.  Just North, Gila and Santa Fe Forests were as well with two fires burning in Santa Fe.  We considered Carson in Northern NM but figured it could go on Stage II at any time.  We then took a deep breath and decided to head up North to Colorado where we enjoyed a wonderful week in the San Juan National Forest.  We stayed at Cimarrona Campground which is about 30mi. down a Forest Service road from Pagosa Springs.  Great time!  Even caught a Kokanee Salmon and Spotted Trout on an artificial lure!
