Just left Assateague Is. yesterday. Brought DD out on the sand, for some overnight dry camping for her first time! Wind was ferocious after Authur. Beach was packed, one off, one on for OSV.  Caught a 3' stingray, DD flew a kite and played it the surf a little, it was real rough; some riptide going on.. Fishing really slow.
DD said she had enough of "sand land".. LOL

Back up to the Maryland beach this weekend! From what I've seen on the Facebook posts, and Forum posts, it looks like a lot of people are spending the dog days of Summer at the beach. We had a waterfront site at Castaways this past weekend, just steps from the Jackspot Bar and the pier. Weather was perfect, even with a pretty stiff breeze from the southwest: it helped keep the bugs at bay. Fishing has tailed off to just pesky sand sharks and skate, a keeper flounder here and there if the fishing Gods shine on you. Gotta get that beach action in before the jellies start, I give them a month; the surf temps are still below normal. They have a tendency to show when the water gets up to about 76 degrees. A short beach on Assateague has Over Sand Vehicles packed in like sardines; word has it they plan to open the beach any day to the Virginia line; the Piping Plovers breading/nesting days are over. Surf fishing has lost it's allure for now.
Looking forward to some time in the mountains ATVing real soon..
