velcro awning light hangers
« on: January 21, 2011, 01:43:28 pm »
Ever need to close the awning in a hurry only to be slowed down by the lights.  I was using the rubber hangers that slide into the groove in the awning tube and the plastic hook hangers for the rope lights. So what i did was cut off the part of the rubber hanger that slide into the track. I then took velcro and glued it around the rubber and onto itself. Now it can hang the lights with velcro. If I need to get the lights down i just pull the velcro tab and the lights are off. The velcro can stay on the awning and be rolled up without damage to the awning.

There are actually some made just like that.  They are called Roll-em-ups. I have some for a couple years now, and just remove the lights and roll them up in the awning.

It was hard for me to find these straps. Ace had them, but he couldnt remember where he got them from. I was up in Hamburg, PA at the Cabelas store and decided to go across the street to this large RV store. They had them there, and they were in 4-5 different color options too.

All I could find before were the Camco ones that they sell at Walmart with the S hooks. The velcro ones havent been installed yet, but I will be putting them in this season and plan to leave them on the awning.
