Rivers Edge Campground in Connellsville, PA

We chose this campground for an extended-family vacation. We planned caving, rafting, hiking, bikeing, kayaking, and visits to the Frank Lloyd Wright homes. 12 of us camped in 2 TTs, 1 pop up camper and a couple of tents. We also had 6 dogs with us. We enjoyed the campground. The facilities were clean, although quite a hike from the tent area. Due to the mixed nature of our group, we would have preferred to have the tents share our campsites but the campgound rules prohibit it.  The tent area was just down the road from us. The management and staff were helpful and friendly. We had sites on the river front and really enjoyed the views, especially early in the morning as the mist was rising. We found the riverfront clean and the campgorund was kept clean and neat, as well. The pool was sparkling and clear. Although they list pick up times for trash it appeared they would pick up anytime they drove past and found any bags of trash in front of the site. There is an active train line on the other side of the river. The sound does carry accross the river but no one in our group complained about it causing problems sleeping. We did have to pause conversation from time to time as they passed. Mostly we stayed busy enough that we were tired at end of the day.  We had bikes, kayaks, & a canoe with us so we could put in at our campsites and paddle and play around right there as well as take the boats up to Connellsville and paddle back to camp. We were looking for a quiet, comfortable and pet friendly campground and Rivers Edge filled the bill well. The more active members of our group would rather have stayed closer to Ohiopyle and the state park there is nice but lacks full hook ups and pet friendliness.
