Vasque Sundowner II Boot Repair
« on: January 12, 2011, 05:58:39 pm »
I have a pair of Vasque Sundowners and the little metal clips up near the top of the boot where you loop in the laces are bending and Im afraid they will break. Anyone know of a guy or store that has the capability to repair these? An email to Vasque proved useless.

Thanks!

Whenever I have hiking boot issues, I wander into my local REI and usually just wander out with a new pair of boots.....   ::)

Depending on the age and wear & tear on the boots most of the time Vasque will do warranty work on their boots. You may want to check with the store/dealer that you bought the boots from.  I worked in an outdoor specialty store for years and Vasque was very good about correcting problems with their products.  I'm on my second pair of Sundowners (great boots!) and I've never had an issue with the eyelet hooks.
If you haven't had any luck getting them fixed send me a PM.

The boots date back to '99, so I cant say they havent given me a lot of service.

I just like how they fit and function and dont want a new pair. Plus, the sundowner is an expensive boot, so if I could make them "new" again with a couple repairs, Id save a ton of money... id think.

I havent had any luck calling Vasque yet... but Ill try them again before PMing you.

THanks!

A pair from '99 !!!  Those are most likely still Italian made.   Do all you can to fix them!

I would think a good cobbler could repair those without much trouble.  I could recomend someone in the Seattle area, but that looks to be a bit far for you.

Agreed. She should be able to remove the old hooks and replace with new. I'm always amazed at what cobblers can do with a well-made, but worn shoe or boot. My mother hates shopping so she's had her shoe repair shop keep shoes alive for probably longer than they should, but they do good work.
